I’m so annoyed this morning that I have to dust off my 4-year old blog which I haven’t posted on in 2-years, to give you a word of caution.
I had a great idea for a website and I went to what was once my favorite domain research tool domize.com. The domain showed up as available, nice. I went to register the domain on my webhost, and it was available there too. After I went to complete the purchase the domain was, what? UNAVAILABLE?
Ridiculous!
I went to look up the WHOIS information for my domain and it was purchased TODAY, literally 2 minutes before I hit the purchase button!
Did some eyes from the backend of domize.com watch my domain searching session and purchase my domain literally seconds before me?
This is too much of a coincidence for me to write it off as coincidence. Of course, there is no real way for me to know the exact truth in this situation.
So let me err on the side of caution, there are too many TRUSTED domain registrars and domain name tools out there, ones with no particular conflict of interest.
How much do you want to bet that there’s a troll or gnome on domize.com watching the searches that people do and swiping their valuable domain ideas before they even get a chance to buy it.
I mean come on, do you know how HARD it is these days to come up with a good domain name, research it, buy it, and keep it?
STAY AWAY from DOMZIE.com
And, btw for all you friendly search engine’s out there, here’s a lovely link for you to parse and add to your search database: Domize.com sucks, never trust their silly tool, that is all. Thank you.

omg , this is serious fraud …. i think the system must be exploited [so that it starts registering domains on it own]…. useless domains that is ….. since its automated ….. damn , i left hacking long time back …. otherwise i would have screwed the webmaster of this site domize

I like the ease of finding simular domain names however it happen to me also did keyword research wrote an article and my domain that would of given a good ranking was bought up and i believe is available for$20
my ? is thier a another free service like domize that u know i like to use multiple keyword domain names so i can rank higher for my top two keywords that i type in my article
ps maybe we could e mail the company and have them run anti virus /malware two days later $20 bucks for a small niche domain name it’s a booming biz of reselling domain names as this happened twice to me
pss i use name cheap however i get tired of retyping 5-10 different seaches
great point you made guru’s sucking the life out of the little guy
I have had this same thing happen numerous times and this is the last straw. What I’ve experienced is Domize will be chugging along and as soon as I hit upon a great NEW idea, it sits and spines forever. Eventually it comes up with the site being taken. I thought I’d check into these particular instances and, you guessed it. The name was only just registered, right after my Domize search. I think GoDaddy is behind it, since every time it has happened it has landed on the GoDaddy registrar…with who is information private, of course! Beware of the leaches. Don’t use Domize.com!
I use godaddy.com but its funny because sometimes I search for a domain but I don’t intend to buy it right that second and I always think…everything is recorded, they must see the searches and can buy it themselves any second thinking, that domain is a great domain or, we can list it for $1000 maybe that person will buy it.
